#DonateToDancers: Bharatanatyam dancer Kiranmayee came out with a creative idea. Costumes and ornaments are the basic fundamentals of classical dance. In fact so much that they can make a dance performance special. Apart from the time consuming process (nevertheless a pleasant activity), there are so many things to look after. Right? The colors, combinations, tailoring, material, the list is endless... The most important of all is the cost and re-usability. Here comes her suggestion in her own words. Tried out this vintage traditional costume for a recent session at #JxtaposeLaunch. This was donated to me by someone whose daughter did her arangetram years ago and never touched her costumes again. This particular one was never even worn. Dancing is an expensive passion and each costume is a substantial amount of money, effort & sentiment and we can't even wear it too many times, owing to the wear and tear from dancing. So donated costumes and jewelry can really go a long way for another dancer. If you know have old kanchivaram sarees lying around waiting to find purpose in their being, or have dance jewelry or costumes you know that you won't use again, donate it to a dancer who will put them to good use. #donatetodancers ********************************************************************** *All views are of the contributor.
