City : Amaravati

In the year 2014, the bifurcation of the erstwhile State of Andhra Pradesh [AP] with Telangana being carved out into a separate State has left AP with no Capital city since the existing capital Hyderabad falls in the Telangana state. At the time of bifurcation, though Govt of India has allowed AP to retain Hyderabad as a capital for a limited period of 10 years, the task of building a new Capital city has become the biggest responsibilty of the new Govt that has come to power in the 2014 state elections.
Mr Chandrababu Naidu, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of the new Andhra Pradesh has chosen Amaravati as the new Capital and efforts are in full swing to build a world class capital. Govt of AP has been finding support from countries like Singapore, Japan and Malaysia in the new capital building exercise. Govt of Singapore has gone an extra mile in creating the city masterplan.
The foundation ceremony for the new capital is scheduled for October 22, 2015 and the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expected to attend and grace the occasion. A number of dignitaries from within the country as well as outside India are expected to attend. Govt of AP is specially inviting the farmers who have given up their lands for the new capital.
For coordinating the planning and execution of the new capital, Govt of AP has formed a Capital Region Development Authority [CRDA] - www.crda.ap.gov.in
