City : Cochin

Cochin is a very scenic city. It is the commercial capital of Kerala (known as God's Own Country) and is located in Ernakulam District. Languages spoken here are Malayalam and English. The High Court of Kerala is located here. The city is also a major port in the west coast of India. It ranks first in the total number of domestic and international tourists visiting Kerala. The city has a large Christian community and one can see several churches in the city. The city houses "International Pepper Exchange". The city is well connected by road, rail and air.

MG Road is a well known shopping destination for jewellery and textiles. Famous Jewellers located here are Josco, Bhima, Alukkas, Geeripai and Malabar Gold. Silk shops located in MG Road are Seematti, Jayalakshmi and Kalyan Silks. Tourists also visit Broadway Bazar and Convent Junction Road for shopping spices and condiments at wholesale rates. Big malls dotting the city include Lulu and Orion Malls.

Tourist attractions include Cochin Harbor, Boat Jetty and Veegaland Amusement Park. Adi Sankara lived in Angamaali (Kaladi), a place near Cochin. Chotinikara Bhagavathy Amman is world famous and known to cure mental illness. Speciality dishes made with Cooking Plantain (Banana Nendran), Puttu with Kadala Curry and Pazham Pori are served in most restaurants of the city.

Celebrities who live in Cochin include Mohanlal, Dileep, Meera Jasmine and Kavya Madhavan.
