City : TrivandrumTrivandrum (also called "evergreen city") is the capital of the Indian state of Kerala. Languages predominantly spoken here are Malayalam and English. There are direct flights to Trivandrum from several Gulf countries. Trivandrum is rated as the best city to live in Kerala. It is one of the ten greenest cities in India. Trivandrum is home to ISRO, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Indian Institute of Space Technology and Technopark. The city is an important IT and academic hub. University of Kerala is located here. There are several tourist attractions in the city, namely Kovalam Beach, Shankumugham Beach, Napier Museum, Sri Anantha Padmabaswamy Temple and Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary. One can purchase Nila Vilaku, handicraft and traditional cotton sarees here. Scraped coconut is a main ingredient in Trivandrum cuisine. Cooking plantain, Yam and Jackfruit trees are grown in most homes. People in Trivandrum is very religious. People from different parts of the world congregate in Attukal to prepare pongal for the presiding deity, Bhagavathy Amman.
