The Vizag Chennai Industrial Corridor [VCIC] is part of an initiative to drive private sector investment, revive manufacturing, restore growth and accelerate over the next two years. Since most of VCIC passes through the state of Andhra Pradesh, it is expected to give fillip to the economic prospects of the new state. In the first phase, 50000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created. With number of major ports already present in this corridor, VCIC expects to connect manufacturing with easy exports and thus generate valuable foreign exchange to the country

The Kakinada area of the region is being promoted for electronics and hardware manufacturing. Visakhapatnam region for petroleum based projects, pharma, apparel, steel based and Information Technology industries. Krishna, Prakasam and Guntur regions are being positioned for food processing and agro based industries and the Nellore region till Chennai for automobile, leather and electronics manufacturing. Some of the major ports include, VPT, Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam and Chennai.
