The ‘Annual Financial Statement’, laid before the Parliament constitutes the Budget of the Union Government of India. The annual financial statement includes information about the receipts and expenditure of the Government for the financial year which usually commences from April 1. While the regular practice is to present the budget one month ahead of the commencement of the financial year, in an election year, it is presented after the elections to enable the new Government to include their economic proposals.

The finance minister presents the annual budget in the Lok Sabha normally at 11AM.

Mr Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister will present the Budget 2014 on July 10, 2014 at 11AM in the Lok Sabha. The Budget speech includes 2 parts, first part about the economy and the second part would contain taxation proposals..
