Kakinada (also known as Fertilizer City) is located in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The language predominantly spoken here is Telugu. Because of its calm and pleasant environment, the city is also known as "Pensioner's Paradise". Because of its geographical location, the city has hot and humid weather for most part of the year. The temperature can go up to 42 C in peak summer (May and June).
Kakinada has a natural harbour. The principal exports from Kakinada include Seafood (Fish, prawn and shrimp), agricultural items (rice, corn and processed food. The imports include chemical and edible oils. Leading fertilizer companies located here are Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Godavari Fertilizers. Several leading institutions make Kakinada an educational hub as well.
Some places of interest include temples, beaches and mangrove forests. Annavaram Satyanaraya Swamy temple is the second richest temple of Andhra Pradesh. Kakinada is known for traditional Andhra food items such as Avakaya pickle, Pesarattu and Kakinada Kaja.
