Vaggeyakara UtsavA three-day Vaggeyakara Utsav held at Kalabharathi under the Laegis of noted Visakha Music Academy in concert with Nada Sudha Tarangini and Subharathi Music Academy treated the music buffs of the city to a rich fare. The fete began on an impressive note with a team of local artistes presenting the compositions of Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer and Muthiah Bhagavatar. Mandapaka Sarada, Lalitha Chan-drasekhar, A. Anuradha participated in it. In the second part on the first day Bhooshani Kalyana Raman of Chennai and S Mathangi of Pondicherry presented the compositions of Swathi Tirunal, Uthukkadu Venkata Subba Iyer and Gopala Krishna Bharathi with aplomb. They began their concert on a brilliant note with Sri Vignarajambhaje in raga Gambhiranata and then came Paramapurusha in Vasantha. Be it appealing aalapana or deft swarakalpana the duo exhibited remarkable talent. The fare included Ennapuiyam in Reethigoula, Pahi Jagajananani in Hamsanandhi, Parka-parka in Harikambhoji, Ramaramaguna in Simhendramadhyamam etc. M Satyanarayana Sarma onViolin, G Venkatrao on Mridangam and G. Venkatesh on Morsing lent good support. On the second day Pemmaraju Suryarao of Vijayawada sang the compositions of Thygarj, Ramadas and Muipalli Subrahmanyam, On the third day Malladi Suribabu and Malladi Narayana Sarma presented the compositions of Mysore Vasudevacahary, Dikshitar and Hidusthani Bhajans with verve. - A.
