Manufacturing Sector in Chennai

Chennai is one of the biggest commercial centers in South India. Industries like automobile, tyre, instruments, cement, cold storage, software services, hardware manufacturing, financial sector, electronics and electrical equipments and healthcare are the major sectors in Chennai.

The city is currently the largest electronic hardware exporter in India. Automobile companies like Ashok Leyland, TVS Motors, TAFE, Ramco Cements, Larsen & Toubro and MRF have their corporate offices in Chennai. Companies like Bluestar, Hyundai Motor India, Ford India, Michellin Tyre India, Robert Bosch, Nissan Motors, Komatsu Limited and Mitsubishi have their manufacturing plants in Chennai. The "heavy vehicles" manufacturing factory at Avadi produces military vehicles. Integral Coach Factory (ICF) located in Perambur manufactures railway coaches for Indian Railways.

Telecom giants Ericsson and Alcatel Lucent, Pharma giant Pfizer and Chemical giant Dow Chemicals have their R&D offices in Chennai. Global financial giants like ABN-AMRO, Standard Chartered, Bank of Scotland, Yes Bank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and Ernst & Young have their offices in Chennai.
