Auto Component Manufacturing industry is about components that go into the making of commercial, passenger vehicles, tractors, 2 wheelers and 3 wheelers. Components include, Suspension and braking parts, electrical parts, engine parts, drive transmission and steering parts, equipments, body and chassis, equipments and others.

Indian auto component industry has been on a steady growth except in the year 2013-14 when there was a marginal drop. Exports from India at about $10.2bn for the year 2013-14 have been rising, exported mainly to countries like USA, Germany, UK and Italy. Imports at about $12.8 in 2013-14, mainly from China, Germany, Japan and South Korea. [Source ACMA]

Future outlook looks bright given that Government is in the process of opening up and aerospace and defence for private industry. FDI norms are also being relaxed. Auto industry is one of the key featured sectors of the makeinindia campaign.
