Introduction

In the embedded domain,the hardware development depends on the software development and viceversa. Due to these dependencies unforseen delays in the product development will be caused which is a prevailing issue.

The software is ready.But the hardware and the PCB is not ready

Device model files

The device model files and CDK simulator from Sankhya prove to be an effective solution for this problem

All the standard devices can be modelled and virtual boards can be created.Taking the virtual board as a reference,the kernel can be loaded using the simulator

The drivers and the applications developed can thus be tested. This gives a scope for the software developer to do the testing well in advance and validate the software

All the corrections could be done and the product development life cycle could be minimised. When the final hardware board comes up only minimal testing is required on the real target

Testing the software as a separate entity using the model files and CDK simulator will thus help in minimising the dependencies between the software team and the hardware team.
