Kuchipudi Kalaa Kendram founded by Kalaratna Smt A B Balakondala Rao, disciple of Padma Bhushan Vempati Chinna Satyam presented Kuchipudi Rangapravesam of Maanasi.
Balakka as Smt A B Balakondala Rao is lovingly called by the dance community and by her disciples, is known to be a meticulous teacher of Kuchipudi technique and adhering to the rich tradition befitting the parampara of her Guru. Maanasi started her dance as early as at 5 years, initially under Guru Uma Maheswari and later under Guru Sri Mahanty Venkateswara and Guru Smt Lakshmi Mahanty. She also learnt Bharatanatyam. It is a belief that Kuchipudi Kalaa Kendram is one institution where learning Kuchipudi dance goes beyond the movements or performing items, and where students learn about the rich culture, heritage, respect to traditions and learning about depths of life.
Maanasi initiated her performance with "Ganesha Pancharatnam of Sri Adisankaracharya – Ragamaika – Tisragati/ Adi Talam – Guru Smt A B Balakondala Rao. This item is choreographed with subtle and smooth flowing movements and rendered with devotion. An ideal piece to initiate Rangapravesam offering salutations to the Lord who removes all obstacles.
Vacchenu Alamelumanga - Annamacharya, Hindolam, Adi, Guru Smt A B Balakondala Rao. The visual poetry of the Saint came out in the choreography andin the performance of Maanasi. Kuchipudi is well reputed to have popularized the "Pravesa Daru" and in this Annamacharya Keertana, there is one similar as Smt Balakondala Rao visually narrates the splendorous entry of Goddess Alamelu Manga, consort of Lord Sri Venkateswara. Maanasi performed the item with grace.
Bhama Pravesa Dharuvu- Adi Guru Siddendra Yogi, Bhairavi, Misrachapu, Padma Bhushan Vempati Chinna Satyam stands out as the most popular for any Kuchipudi recital, what with the very dance form identified with Satyabhama, consort of Lord Krishna. In Pravesa Dharu, the pride of the queen to the unfurling of the Bhama Kalapam story is presented in Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam choreography.
Maanasi performed a Thillana- Uttukadu Venkata Subbayya; Surati, Tisra Gati Adi Taalam, Guru Smt A B Balakondala Rao. The poet describes the melody of Krishna while He is dancing and playing flute simultaneously.
The program concluded with Mangalam - Annamacharya, Ksheerabdikanyakaku Sri Mahalakshmikini, Kuranji, Khana Chapu Taalam, Guru Smt A B Balakondala Rao.
Maanasi and her parents honored Guru Smt A B Balakondala Rao and Maanasi was awarded "Natya Ratnam" by Kuchipudi Kalaa Kendram Vizag.
