Bharatanatyam Performance- Shraddha Joglekar- CA- 6th February 2016 Bharatanatyam Performance-Shraddha Joglekar - Santa Clara- CA- 6th February 2016 A Brief Report Photo credits -Shraddha Yuva Bharati is a non-profit organization formed to promote classical Indian dance in the US. It is registered in State of California and recevied tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) (taxid is 20-4785269) in year 2006. As part of their mission to promote classical dance, Yuva Bharati provided opportunity to three classical dancers who performed with Live Orchestra. Shraddha Joglekar performend along with Kuchipudi dancer Mangala Maddali & Bharatanatyam Dance Priya Ramdoss in the program. Shraddha is the artistic director of Kalaawishkar Bharatnatym Dance School based in San Jose. She started learning Bharatnatyam at the age of 2.5 yrs under the guidance of Guru Upadhyae in Dharwad and continued with Guru A. Soudamini Rao in Pune. And continues to enrich her knowledge in Bharatnatyam and has perfected the art of Nattuvangam under the guidance of Guru Dr. Swati Daithankar. Shraddha is also learning Mridangam from Shri. Ramesh Srinivasan. She holds dual degrees, B.A. in Bharatnatyam and in Bachelor of commerce and an MBA in marketing.. Sraddha performed the following items and the concluding item Thillana was performed with other dancers. Item: Pushpanjali - Ragam: Natai -Talam: Chatushtra Ekam -Choreographer: Dr. Swati Daithankar Pushpanjali, Means literally to offer flowers to the almighty lord Ganesh to gain blessings for her performance. Shraddha performed on the divine shloka from the Dynaneshwari written by Saint Dynaneshwar, “Om Namoji Adya” which is in Raag Nattai and Taal Chatrushtra Ekam. Item : Varnam -Ragam: Dhanyasi -Talam: Adi -Composer: Papnasam Sivan -Choreographer: Dr. Swati Daithankar In this Varnam the Nayika asks Lord Krishna why is he neglecting her and is this how he should behave.., the one who is so compassionate towards the world! She mentions that the lord of love Kamdev has pierced arrows in her heart and that he is neglecting a beautiful maiden like her! The heroine rightly represents the devotee who is longing for the love and blessings of God through out her life. And pleading him to bestow his affection on her through out her life. So here we see the heroine separated from her lord. Item: Padam is presented in Marathi bhawgeet - Composer: This is a song from the famous Marathi album ’Geet Ramayan’ Composed by late Shri Sudhir Phadke and written by late Shri G.D. Madgulkar- Choreographer: Guru. A Soudamini Rao. In this Padam Shraddha portrayed Kaikayee who demands her two wishes from the King Dasharath. She reminds Dasharath about his two promises he had given to her when she saved his life during the war between him and Indra. She demands for Bharath to be the king of Ayodhya and that Ram should leave for 14 years in exile! Item: Thillana (All three dancers) -Ragam: Kedar gaula -Talam: Adi -Choreographer: Dr. Swati Daithankar Raag-Kedargaula, Taal-Adi Thillana begins with intricate and beautiful pure dance movements and concludes with a prayer to the Almighty Lord Shiva dancing in Chidambaram. Thillana is the showering of flowers throughout the performance space. More about Shraddha: She was felicitated by Pundit Hridhaynath Mangeshkar for her contribution in Indian classical dance and enriching the Indo-American kids with it's knowledge in 2013 . Recentl, she was felicitated by the mayor of San Ramon and Dublin by the award of, ‘ Acharya Devo Bhaw’. Shraddha has performed in many-reputed dance festivals throughout India and has mastered both subtle Abhinaya (expression) & graceful movements in her dance style. She has been recognized for her performance of 'Geet Ramayana' A Dance Drama, 'Tichi Gostha' (Her story) 'ShivoHam', Shiva the self appeared!
