Introduction Sundara Kandam - A Bharatanatyam Dance Drama "Sundara Kandam" Directed and Choreographed by Ms Anita Guha is now touring in the USA and gaining appreciation from the classical dance loving rasikas. The tour is collaborating with AIM FOR SEVA
 Respected Swami Dayananda Saraswati Ji Source/ Credit & "For more information about AIM FOR SEVA"-Click & "Sundara Kandam" - A Signet of Hope"- Click Special Pranams and Prayers to Swami Dayananda Saraswati Founder-Chairman of AIM FOR SEVA. Regarded as one of the most profound thinkers, Swami Dayananda Saraswati is a renowned spiritual leader and an authority on Vedanta. AIM for SEVA was born out of his vision to bring value-based education and health care to the least privileged sections of society. He is also the founder-chairman of the Swami Dayananda Educational Trust (SDET), which aims to bring high quality education to rural India, starting with his birthplace, Manjakkudi, in Tamil Nadu. Know more about Swamiji, his teachings and programs from www.swamidayananda.org About the Dance Drama: The exquisite dance ballet, which represents parts of the Kishkinda Kandam and the Sundara Kandam, will take the viewer through a roller coaster of emotions through the unparalleled choreography of Smt. Anitha Guha and the music of Shri Neyveli Santhanagopalan. From Lord Rama’s angst at being separated from his soul mate Sita, to the entry of Hanuman, the slaying of Vali and Hanuman’s Vishwaroopam, the Kishkinda Kandam gives way to the more action-packed Sundara Kandam, where Hanuman travels to Lanka, and the audience is given a glimpse into the heart and soul of Sita, as Ravana tries to woo her. Sundara Kandam ends with Lankadahanam, a fitting finale to a wonderfully choreographed performance. Using ragas and compositions that complement the mood of the story, Sundara Kandam: A Signet of Hope takes the viewer through the universal journey that is at the heart of all human endeavour: despondency giving way to optimism and hope. The vibrant choreography of Smt. Anitha Guha, the lively narration of Smt. Revathy Shankaran, the captivating music by Sri. Neyveli Santhanagopalan, rhythmic interlude by Sri P.R.Venkatasubramanian and brilliant performances by the team of acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancers is sure to take the audience back to the Treta Yuga. The Report- 13th September 2015 - ERNST Auditorium NOVA Annandale Campus, VA Organized by the Aim for Seva Washington DC chapter under the leadership of Dr. Siva Subramanian and Dr. Nandini Mouli and a host of selfless volunteers . It was an evening of pure visual delight when a team of young dancers took center stage to enact scenes from both Kishkinda Kandam and Sundara kaandam . The story telling was all the more interesting when narrated through skillfully choreographed dance sequences . The young dancer who donned the role of Hanuman won the hearts of the audience with his Innocent face and a demeanor full of Hasya rasa ( comical) . In the final scene. when hanuman approached Rama and Rama embraced him, it was a melting moment for me .Medha Hari excelled in all the roles but as Vali's wife Medha impressed me with her coy and demure look and skilled abhinayam . Needless to say, She is a dancer of great merit and she does her Guru Anita Guha proud .all the step of the way . . How can i forget the Vali -Sugreeva duel, most realitically choreographed ? Every character played their part to perfection- The gentleman who played Noble Lakshmana excelled in a diametically opposite role as the Evil Ravana too . It was teamwork and that is what held the play together . Not to speak of the aesthetic costumes and the melodious musical scores by Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan . Anita Guha is well known for her imaginative true to Life choreography and this is one more feather in her cap . When the whole team assembled to take a bow , the jam packed audience gave a thunderous Standing ovation , clapping non stop. The importamnt message is in this day of declining Dharma , if one follows the path of righteousness , there Is Hope. Exactly . So it is said it takes a village to raise a child - may we modify it to say it takes a small DC community to create awareness and support Swami Dayanandaji's Aim for seva Project promoting education in a Gurukulam type of Setting . Swamiji is blessed to have PM Modi supporting him in all his endevors . Special thanks to all who supoort and work for this noble cause . Vidya Daanam maha Dannam ( the gift of education is the best charity) . On another note , special thanks to Smt. Lakshmi Swaminathan for raising funds for this noble cause through her Shivanjali programme. Not to speak of Deepti Mukund and Shruthi Mukund who raised funds through Nayabhoomi's staging of " Kumara Sambhavam ." So proud of these dedicated ladies .
